I am a hardcore Uttarakhandi i swear by my motherland, but like most of you I do not stay there. Nobody wants to stay in hills be it an elected representative, a govt offical a youth or a person like me.We move out to make career. We move out to make money. We move out to make life. But friends ! we are not selfish we remeber our motherland wherever we go, we carry Uttarakhand in our heart. You can see people circulating hilly pictures pictures of famous temples rivers and what not on the social sites every minute so what it is , it is their way of showing love for Devbhoomi It is their love for motherland.what else?
I came to Delhi to study and then never went back. Though i occasionally travel to my native place but i never made it point to stay there and get involved in the society in any form. I always complain about the deteriorating condition of the hills , the healthcare, education system the society d and rampant corruption. I move a lot in Uttarakhandi social circles here in the capital and always find innovative ways of criticizing the govt of the day and society at large.Now if you stop for a while and analyse , except for the word Uttarakhand this is the story of every state and town in the country and lets accept it we the countrymen are responsible for this whole mess. The music and culture binds us together.and there is another thing which also brings us closer is the criticism of state of affairs in every forum be it Facebook, twitter whats app or in a social gathering. We are quite united in criticizing the system and everthing else.
But i am not complaining here today, I want to think and behave differently today . Today i am here to write about the achievement of Pawandeep and what it has done to the mood of Uttarakhand. The win is just few hours old , but the aftereffect it has brought are quite overwhelming .The achievement is playing out quite loudly in our heads and it has charged all Uttarakhandis for sure.
I sometime felt as a society we can never achieve anything substantial but success of 20 something Pawandeep has changed this perception. He ate and breathe the hilly culture and there he stands today on top of the world. Achieved the impossible, the coveted title of The Voice an & TV singing show. This has earned him fame a fat payout and contract and a brand new car and lot of worldwide fame to be precise.
Lets understand why i want to talk about Pawandeep today and give him all the credit for this positivity in the environment?
Pawandeep started like most of us in a school in hills , a humble family background, Word like career never existed for him , study is a routine since all do it he also did it , had to help his elders in running family, music automatically became a part of it because it ran in the family. Got involved in music in the early days of life and stayed it with all through these years. Wherever he went he carried this talent with him. Came to Mumbai worked there for a while and went to Chandigarh, formed a band there. Music was his calling and he came to The Voice. A humble kid with lot of talent, he was indeed made for the music. He can sing , play all instruments, be it guitar or tabla all with a Midas touch. Saw some of it in the show. The judges judged him rightly i remember Himesh Reshmiya once saying him.'"Pack your bags and come to Mumbai", Himesh has prejudged it , he knew Pawandeep is a Bollywood material ..and it was proved right at the end. A title , money , fame he has it all.
Now let me talk about takeaway from this emphatic win !
The Reality : The music scene really sucks in the state, the film policy i heard is out, but how helpful it will be in nurturing talent this only time will tell. The entertainment industry has yet to takeoff. The singers musicians writers do this as part time work, because they have to also run their families, people just make the movies and music CD's out of passion and makes no money from it. Now unless that happens the chances of industry revival are minimal. The industry will have to work on a revenue model , where all stake holders are making money. The music that you are making for the hilly audience does not bring you much money so you are not able to practice that for a long, ultimately it has to bring revenues for you to survive, so with this win it has opened the door for the local pahadi singers also, they can try Bollywood music which is a hot property. Pawandeep diversified for a while and he got the results , you may try this it may also work for you.The triumph of Pawandeep has done one thing for sure, that there is no dearth of talent in Uttrakhand with determination and handwork one can achieve the impossible. It can also work backwards, when a star like Pawandeep sings pahadi song, there will be many takers for his music and may be his star status may revive the sick industry. We were waiting for a star for revival and if Pawandeep plans to sing few pahadi songs and dole out few musical albums, this may work just right for the regional entertainment industry. Lets see how the stardom of Pawandeep effects the industry and on social level, there will be many who will not think twice about following their passion now. If one can achieve it we all can do it.This will be the immediate outcome of this win.Lot of you venturing out on their own and working extra hard to make it big.
Peiece of Advice:You may be in any field, do not feel depressed , if you have what it takes to get to the top , you will ultimately reach there. Pawandeep is one such example who came from nowhere and made it to the top. Prasoon Joshi, Hemant Pandey Deepak Dobriyal, Manasvi Mamgain, Urvashi Rautela are few names those who are doing wonders in the entertainment industry. Shailesh Upreti a NRI scientist just launched Uttrakhand Web Radio. Ajit Doval and Shaurya Doval in the current govt.... and then their are many who are silently working to their goals today and everyday. Achievers are doing it , they donot care about the system, environment, negativity they are working tirelessly to reach there goal so friends work hard and you will get there. And once you get there then you can pay back to the society in any form.
Time to celebrate...Cheers to Pawandeep and ..expecting many of you to achieve what Pawandeep has achieved in first 22 years of his lifetime.
