The evening of life.....!
Sitting under a tree and watching the sunrays getting fainter and fainter at the sunset time, one thought crossed my mind and it has been there since then, in the evening of life when we all grow old what happens then, imagining that at this point of life is slightly tough but talking to people already in the evenings of there life brings you the stark reality of modernisation, liberlisation or nuclearisation of the family.
I normally donot realise all this while or probably we all donot realise this because we are too busy with our life and its not so relevent priorities, and once you go back to these hills away from hustle -bustle of metro life, where the speed of life is as slow as the speed of development here, you visit yourself more closely and realise what you have actually been missing, going back to nature, closer to hills where i have spent my childhood and you seem like losing myself and getting deep into my character and the society around you, after looking around and analysing you find few changes very relevant one the technology has taken over all of us, everyone is glued to their cellphone , completly wired listening to latest downloaded songs, everyone likes to flaunts their latest gazets and spend all time getting well versed with them. The scene i am talking about is not of some metropolitan city or an upmarket malls but the Pauri, Gopeshwars, Chaukhutia, Dwarahat or the underdeveloped road of my village Udlikhan, the yougsters are busy with their cellphones, the newly wed women are also not far behind, they go to the nearby "khet" fully armed with cellphone and headhone so that they can listen to the latest hepp numbers,be it in Hindi or Pahari,Garhwali music. Nothing wrong with that, i am not against technology
but the new genration is busy in the newness and the old generation is busy thinking about the welfare of the new generation.
But the contradiction is there is nobody who looks after the wel- fare of these people who are in the evenings of their life, cellphone is suppose to connect people anywhere ,anytime but just think back how many times do we talk to our parents and grandparents or our close relatives , not many time the technology has really made us more introvert then extrovert.
I have this habit of going back to my roots every year and i talk to all my village elders and anylse their life cycle and their pain and worry and the only thing which standsout is the importance , the desire of getting importance, all their life they have been head of the family and decison taker of the family,They hav sacrficed everything to be what we are today , they have toiled all their life and they are toiling till date but most of the time they give us what we can never give them HAPPINESS , but going further into the cause of sadness i realised the only thing they are looking at is just few minutes of attention or time on regular basis and we can give them what money cannot buy and technology cannot invent the PEACE OF MIND, the mantra is just a smile and few minutes everyday to them will add many years to their life and health.
Try it guys i have been trying it with my family elders and i only see SMILE and Happiness AROUND !
