The summer holidays will continue for another month in Delhi , meanwhile the only place we could visit this time around was my In- laws home. My planned visit to parents in Uttrakhand was called off at the last minute , since my wife could not finish her balance sheet on time. Her two sisiters and brothers visited Uttrakhand with their families but i had to remain contented with the Delhi heat. The persistent power cuts shook me every now and then since the achche din wali govt came into power. My little daughter had visited her grandparents for a week and she came back to Delhi without spending much time with them.
The village life is all i miss all the time, but my kids are not fond of the slow life, they surround themselves with gadgets which keep them busy throughout the day. My younger daughter is happy viewing all kids channel whole day non- stop without break. It feels better at time , in the era of nuclear families , the Television is the most important family member our family has. In the absence of grand parents the TV what what the grand parents did in olden days. It keeps the kid busy and programming is managed this way that the kid remains glued to TV throughout , and nobody complains. Despite watching it for the whole day , her mother still finds it tough to ask for the precious remote from her. This is the new struggle or war these days , the mighty would always like to possess the remote. You walk into any family during prime time you can easily make out seeing the possession of the remote who calls the shot in the family.
It becomes really tough these days to discuss any relevant topic during evening time ,all are focused on Balika Vadhu, Uttran and Madhubala , nobody has time for the Gharwala. If at all anything important comes for discussion , then it is discussed in pieces , with every break the discussion becomes intense and irrelevant when the serial starts. The weekends are much worse , because the best is kept for weekends.
I donot have much interest in the fiction , but the reality shows are also quite common these days and sports is another big TRP getter for TV channels and i am a sports freak. IPL has just gone by but the King XI Punjab is still on and meanwhile the FIFA world cup has also started , with odd hrs telecast i am happy managing , at least i donot have to fight for the remote , i remain a lone watcher late in the night...enjoying FIFA these days ...!
